PCA Choice
This PCA service option gives our clients more control.
You or your Responsible Party is considered the employer, and Integra acts as your fiscal intermediary.
As the client and/or Responsible Party, you’re accountable for:
- Developing Care Plans
- You can elect to have assistance from a Qualified Professional
- Finding, hiring, training, scheduling, paying, monitoring, and firing PCAs
- Maintain documentation of PCA tasks and actions
Traditional PCA
Traditional PCA allows Integra Health Care, Inc., to play a more active role. Integra Health Care, Inc., is in charge of making employment decisions, but our clients can still give their Personal Care Assistants daily direction and may adjust the PCA’s schedule to meet their needs.
As the employer, Integra is responsible for meeting all employment laws and requirements.
Integra Health Care, Inc., is responsible for:
- Developing Care Plans
- In consultation with our clients and/or their Responsible Parties
- Hiring, training, scheduling, and dismissing PCA staff members
- Overseeing and evaluating PCA staff members
- Providing backup PCA staff when necessary
Benefits of PCA Choice for Personal Care Assistants
All Personal Care assistants who work for a client under PCA Choice are eligible to join Minnesota's PCA Union (SEIU).
You pay union dues and are eligible to vote on union matters. As a fiscal intermediary, Integra must meet the terms of SEIU, including paying the minimum union wage, providing paid time off (PTO) at union rates, and collecting union dues.
Why clients choose one PCA service over the other
When clients want our agency to find staff, they select Traditional PCA services.
The traditional option gives us the freedom to be more flexible with our clients. For example, many of our clients elect to schedule their own PCAs but have us take care of all the steps involved with hiring and firing PCAs. When clients have their own Personal Care Worker or Workers, usually family or friends who can cover all his shifts, they generally choose PCA Choice.

Personal Care
When our staff provides personal care, we treat you or your loved one like family, not just as another case.
As a family-owned business, we know the importance of personal care that family or friends often provide, so when you require assistance, we provide the care as if you or your loved one is a member of our family.
Our personal care provides comfort and other assistance during recovery from an injury or illness and strives to enable independence, so you or your loved one can maintain the wellbeing and dignity necessary for a high quality of life.
Matching personal care assistants to the needs of our clients
We do more than simply assign personal care assistants. We carefully match them to the individual needs of our clients. This enables our assistants to develop the close relationship, understanding communication, and trust that is required for quality personal care.
Our Personal Care services include:
Dressing
Grooming
Mobility
Transfers
Meal preparation
Feeding
Laundry
Light housekeeping
Bathing
Toileting
When patients can remain in familiar surroundings, they can enjoy a quality of life that cannot be found in an institutional setting.
Integra personal care has many benefits that improve outcomes
Medical research shows that patients heal faster and more comfortably at home than in a hospital or nursing home setting, and our personal home care allows your loved one to stay home. Our in-home care also gives the patient more independence and dignity, so it leads to a higher level of satisfaction with life.
Integra health care provides benefits for other family members because it gives your family a break from caring for an ill or elderly member.
